ARTGUISE GALLERY
590 BANK STREET OTTAWA ONTARIO CANADA
Artguise Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of its first solo exhibit for the 2009 calendar year, with Transitions, new works by painter Paul Saindon. Paul’s plein air series is a testament to the diverse scenery and changing seasons he observed touring North America to paint. Saindon realizes his dynamic compositions as sculptures of light, working in both acrylics and alkyd oils. These pieces achieve realistic impressions of radiant locations while being loose and airy in their execution. Most of Paul’s canvases are rendered on site, contending with the sky’s changing light; fleetly painted with both brushes and fingers. The show of thirty works is a vastly impressive testament to the artist’s passion for location painting. Join us opening night when Paul will be in attendance. All are welcome.

VERNISSAGE : FRIDAY NOVEMBER 21ST, 2014. 7:30PM – 10:30PM
WITH OPENING NIGHT SOUNDS BY DJ FECK (BIRDMAN SOUND)
ARTGUISE GALLERY 590 BANK STREET OTTAWA ONTARIO CANADA
Artguise Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a dual exhibition by Ottawa painter / animator, Ian Jeans and Kincardine illustrator / painter, Rob Elliott. This dual show represents the highly anticipated second appearance in the Artguise exhibition space for Ian and Rob.
In his new series of drawings, “Primer”, Rob Elliott uses classical illustration forms and techniques to illustrate a fantastic world filled with strange and unique imagery. Rob’s gouache and ink drawings bring to mind children’s advertising and educational reading materials of the early 1970’s. Images reminiscent of old confectionery ads and elementary school reading primers engage the viewer with their sinister humour and a playful sense of wit. Ultimately, ” Primer” is intended to be viewed as a collection of loose pages torn from long lost publications, tantalizing in their refusal to provide a complete narrative and yet married to a childlike sense of nostalgia.
Similarly, the new series of oil paintings by artist Ian Jeans depicts an upside down world of animals, oddities and surreal joy. “Spare Time” is a titillating expedition through the imaginative and wondrous world of Ian’s brush and palette. His works are a spirited tribute to the notion of painting purely for the sake of painting. Jean’s use of a bold colour palette brings his jocular and bizarre narratives to life with a youthful exuberance and charm. Ian’s skill as a technical painter is evident throughout this series in his use of line and balanced composition. Overall, “Spare Time” represents Ian’s love of the craft of painting and the delight he gets in creating a peculiar and lighthearted world open for all viewers to enjoy.
Please join us opening night when the artist’s will be in attendance.
All are welcome.

Gary’s work tells profound tales of the history of the Earth, of millions of years of deposition, movement, collision and deconstruction. His interpretations convey sublime elements that are gleaned from objective and artistic analysis of the natural world. The artist explores the order of patterns and the discord of chaos; utilizing evocative colours and pronounced textures. His scientific background paired with a painter’s passion equips him with a keen eye for observation and a diligent patience for approach. We sincerely hope that you are able to join us opening night when the artist shall be in attendance.

ARTGUISE GALLERY
590 BANK ST. OTTAWA ONTARIO CANADA
Artguise Gallery is pleased to welcome a collection of new work by award winning Nelson B.C. born painter Kristy Gordon. Kristy’s highly accomplished oil compositions transport the viewer back to an era of classically refined painting. The artist resists the inclination to embellish and romanticize her subjects as she is driven to convey the purest of their essence onto the canvas. She is inspired to paint people simplistically with the intent of evoking psychological response as a result of this meticulous method of observation. Her works are superbly executed and astonishingly fathomable in their lifelike impact. We sincerely hope that you are able to join us opening night when the artist shall be in attendance. All are welcome.
